Pie for the People held a fundraiser Sunday at the Homeless Garden Project for Santa Cruz County Black Health Matters, a grassroots organization that emerged from a great need to support the 1%-2% of Black residents in Santa Cruz County.

Founded in 2015, Pie for the People has raised more than $20,000 through its semi-annual potluck pie fundraisers that are donated to local nonprofits.

Black Health Matters provides resources and programs to ensure individuals are connected to their culture, community and health services, with a core principle of valuing the dignity of each Black resident to thrive. Pie for the People volunteers pay all costs and provide all ingredients for the potlucks so that 100% of the donations raised go to the chosen nonprofit.
