For an outsider, Daniel Lurie is quite the insider.
Lurie, the latest major candidate to jump into the 2024 race to become San Francisco’s next mayor, is positioning himself as the antidote to a city government beleaguered by inefficiency and ineffectiveness.
A street sweeper clears a homeless encampment sweep on Willow Street in San Francisco on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023. Daniel Lurie said a federal injunction on certain sweeps “first-class finger pointing” from city officials, rather than solutions.
Daniel Lurie says that Mayor London Breed, seen above introducing a proposal on Sept. 26 to require low-income adults receiving cash assistance to undergo drug screenings, is “talking a very good game” about her success when “the results are not there.”
