Germany is offering Namibia €1.1 billion over 30 years. The money is expected to be used for development projects that benefit the Herero and Nama people. However, some Herero and Nama are demanding official reparations. Between 1904 and 1908, Germany’s colonial forces reacted to a rebellion by the Ovaherero and Nama people in Namibia with brutal violence and prison camps. The trauma and political repercussions remain unresolved.
