White Plains expo showcases in Black-owned businesses

Dozens of vendors took part in the Black Owned Business Expo in White Plains.

The event was in celebration of Black History Month.

It gave businesses an opportunity to showcase everything from homemade beauty products to hand-crafted jewelry. Event organizers say the expo offered a unique opportunity to build their community from within.

“Why not come together and strengthen each other in business, a lot of times black businesses aren’t highlighted, they don’t get the exposure needed, the support needed. So, create a hub, create an environment where Black businesses can come out and support each other,” says organizer Lauren Morris.

She says the expo also gives vendors the opportunity to learn and support each other, including showcasing products they say reflect their heritage.
