‘What Is Owed?’ podcast looks internationally to understand Boston’s reparations fight

The city of Boston, through a task force appointed last year, is weighing the idea of paying reparations to Black residents to atone for slavery and centuries of economic exclusion. It’s not a new conversation, but it is the latest chapter in a push that spans across centuries.

The GBH News podcast “What is Owed?” explores at the long history of the fight for reparations in Massachusetts and beyond, tackling thorny questions including what reparations should look like and whether governments are ready to face their own culpability. Podcast host Saraya Wintersmith joins Katie Lannan to discuss.
