“No one has asked for forgiveness. They take refuge in the ideology of denialism,” said the Venezuelan leader
Caracas, October 15 (RHC)– Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has said that he will demand reparations from Spain for the plundering, looting and slavery against the country’s native peoples.
During his program Con Maduro +, the president established that position after congratulating and supporting the process carried out by the Caribbean countries, which demand immediate reparations from the colonizers for the violation of their rights.
The president assured that in addition to Venezuela, other countries in the region will make their claim, affirming that we are in a position to take that definitive step.
Recently, Mexico reminded Spain that it is still waiting for an apology for the crimes committed during colonialism. “532 years ago, the process of resistance against colonialism and slavery took place, which left Nazism and fascism as a legacy (…) No one has asked for forgiveness, they take refuge in the ideology of denialism (…) From Spain, this barbaric event is endorsed and claimed as a process of civilization,” declared President Maduro.
The Bolivarian leader stressed that the invasion of indigenous peoples by the Spanish explorer Christopher Columbus was a criminal act and an abuse of the native peoples.
Participating in the program Con Maduro +, the Venezuelan Minister for Indigenous Peoples, Clara Vidal, pointed out that indigenous peoples claimed their culture, resistance and history during the mobilization for the end of capitalism.
The official explained that thanks to the Communal Circuits in indigenous territories, services are organized for the native peoples.
