Tickets are now on sale at a discounted price for the 2025 Black Mental Health Summit scheduled for May 2 at the Novant Conference and Event Center.
Statistics show that people of all cultures experience mental health conditions at about the same rate; however, according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, only 39% of Black Americans receive mental health services.
The Black Mental Health Summit (BMHS) is hosted by Reset and Heal, a local mental health consulting firm, and the goal of the event is to de-stigmatize mental illness, increase access to care, and improve wellness in the Black community. The first BMHS was held in 2024 and was an instant hit. Hundreds of people from across the state came together for the day of healing.
Throughout the day attendees were able to listen to panel discussions that featured more than a dozen Black licensed mental health counselors, therapists, clinical psychologists and others with experience working in mental health. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Pamela Oliver, executive vice president of Novant Health and president of Novant Health Physician Network.
Without disclosing too much about what is planned for the 2025 Black Mental Health Summit while speaking with The Chronicle earlier this week, Alexia Mitchell, owner and founder of Reset and Heal, is planning for the event to be bigger and better this year. In addition to the panel discussions, this year’s event will feature a “fireside chat” where attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions and openly discuss mental health.
Early bird tickets for the 2025 Black Mental Health Summit are on sale now until Jan. 31 for $60. Early bird tickets come with general admission seating, BMHS t-shirt and swag bag, continental breakfast, lunch, free parking, exclusive networking opportunities, and professional development. After Jan. 31 the price for tickets will be $75.
