EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – There’s a new art exhibition on display at the Michigan State University Broad Art Museum. The exhibition is a collaboration with the Justice League of Greater Lansing Michigan.
The exhibition is titled Farmland: Food, Justice, and Sovereignty. It provides varying perspectives on key themes associated with equitable access to food.
Several activists provided pieces to the exhibition to provide a view of Black history through art that supports reparations. Collaborators like Mila Lynn, one of the visual artists, shared their contributions to the piece
“Art that ruffled feathers, art that educates, art that does upset people, but it’s calling your eye to something that you need to pay attention to,” Lynn said. “Like over time artists have documented history and that’s what I feel like my role is here. Documenting history, telling stories, and having a little fun.”
The exhibition will be on display until July 27th.
