Why This Is A Great Black Friday Deal
As a shopping writer who’s been covering Black Friday Sales for more than four years, I know that Dyson beauty deals are quite rare. Frankly, most of the the time the brand only discounts air purifiers or vacuums. And when Dyson actually has a rare beauty sale, it’s usually on the Dyson Airwrap that’s discounted, not the Dyson Supersonic. In other words, this will probably be the only time the Supersonic will be on sale all year.
Why The Dyson Supersonic Is The Best Hair Dryer
I’ve been testing hair dryers for well over thee years, and the Supersonic is still the gold standard. During my product reviews, I inevitably am always comparing every hair dryer to the Dyson Supersonic.
That’s because it’s lightweight, feels comfortable to hold throughout styling and doesn’t bother my wrist or shoulder. Notably, the Supersonic works with all hair textures. I’ve got plenty of thick coils and my mom has fine straight hair—we both love with the results every single time we style with this hot tool. We’ve both become such fans of the Supersonic that we’d argue over who gets to keep the Dyson in their bathroom. (She won, but I eventually got annoyed and gifted my mom her own model because I couldn’t handle sharing.)
The Supersonic offers speed and heat settings compatible with all hair types
The combination of multiple speed and temperature settings, the inclusion of several attachments ensures every single person with hair on can enjoy this Dyson hair dryer. It has three speed settings: High for fast styling, medium for everyday drying, and low for diffusing my hair. While I could get away with the medium speed, I like using the highest settings because I can dry my hair even quicker and focus more on my makeup before heading out for the evening.
There are also three heat settings, plus a cold shot of 82 degrees Fahrenheit, that helps seal my hair cuticles for a shiny effect and locks everything in place.
- Low is 140 degrees Fahrenheit and gets the job done effectively at a slower speed for my thicker textured hair. This temperature is ideal when you have thin or fine hair or if your strands are straight or wavy.
- Medium is at 176 degrees and can work with all hair types, but I usually use this setting if I want a fluffy blowout instead of creating a sleek, straight foundation for an at-home silk press. My mom likes using this setting the best, and it’s what I use on my extensions.
- The hottest temperature is 212 degrees Fahrenheit, and it’s my go-to when I want to dry my hair fast and achieve the straightest look possible. Since I don’t have room for a salon-inspired hooded dryer in my studio apartment, I use this setting on my Supersonic as a makeshift version. After coating my hair with either the Maria Nila Curls & Coils hair mask, I’ll power on the dryer and concentrate on each section until I get bored and rinse the conditioners away. Pairing heat with a moisturizing conditioner helps my hair shafts open up and soak up the deeply nourishing ingredients.
Also if you’re worried about heat damage, you can chill out. My hairstylist has never noticed any signs of heat damage since I’ve used my Dyson in 2020. Just be sure to use a heat-protectant, such as my go-to Color Wow Extra Strength Dream Coat.

Magnetic attachments add more styling options
Your Dyson Supersonic comes with five attachments—and they’re all winners in my book. Some enhance textured hair, while others create a silky smooth foundation without using a flat iron.
TLDR: I’ve used this hair dryer for several years and I plan on using it until the moment it cranks out—but I don’t expect that to be anytime soon
This durable device has replaced my weekly salon blowouts, and I’m much happier investing one time in an epic, all inclusive tool that has lasted me for four years of regular use. I’ve traveled with mine cross-country, brought it to the office and friends homes, and even to my hair salon because I just love the final look I can achieve with the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer.
