The Black Family Wellness Expo coming to Hampton

HAMPTON, Va. — A wellness expo aimed at addressing disparities Black families experience in the healthcare system is coming to Hampton Roads this weekend.

Celebrate Healthcare will be hosting The Black Family Wellness Expo at the Mary W. Jackson Neighborhood Center in Hampton on Saturday. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“The Black Family Wellness Expo contributes to The Links National Wellness Expos effort to raise awareness about conditions that shorten or impact the quality of life for those in the Black community.  The entire Black family is included, from infant to senior citizen,” according to a release.

Among the issues being addressed are maternal health, prostate cancer, heart health, blood donations and mental health.

The expo is part of a nationwide event coordinated by The Links, Incorporated.

It “aims to leverage its entire membership in the effort to improve outcomes for Black families,” the release reads.
