In central New York, a three-person race for Syracuse-area district attorney pits one of the state’s longest-serving prosecutors against a repeat challenger, and another who served as an assistant DA.

Onondaga County DA William Fitzpatrick, a Republican, seeks a ninth four-year term in the Nov. 7 election, but he’ll be challenged by longtime criminal defense lawyer Charles A. Keller III, a Democrat, and Christine Varga, a Conservative Party candidate.
