SAGINAW, Mich. (WJRT) – Police arrested a 31-year-old man accused of shooting three people and killing one over the weekend.
The Saginaw Police Department says the arrest came after an unrelated harassment complaint involving the suspect. He was not identified Tuesday morning because he had not appeared in court for arraignment.
Officers responded to the unspecified harassment complaint in the 3600 block of Hess Avenue around 8:25 p.m. Monday. A witness who made the harassment complaint gave responding officers a description, which matched the murder suspect.
Police saw the suspect’s vehicle driving away when they arrived in the area and performed a traffic stop, where they arrested the suspect. He remained in the Saginaw County Jail while awaiting formal criminal charges.
The 31-year-old suspect is accused of shooting 57-year-old Tracey Bowens and two women ages 57 and 59 at a residence in the 1900 block of Fairfax Street on Saturday evening. That’s near Genesee Avenue on the city’s south side.
Bowens was pronounced dead on the scene. Ambulances rushed both women to area hospitals, where they were listed in critical condition Monday.
Reports about the shootings will be forwarded to the Saginaw County Prosecutor’s Office, which may issue criminal charges this week.
