State Representative Regina Goodwin leads study on Tulsa Race Massacre reparations

Oklahoma State Representative Regina Goodwin led an interim study at the State Capitol to examine the status of distributing reparations recommended from the 2001 Tulsa Race Massacre Commission Report.

The study was held on Oct. 5 and lasted three hours. It examined compensation and scholarships for Tulsa Race Massacre survivors and descendants of victims.

The study also explored economic development in Greenwood.

Goodwin says in order for these scholarships to be beneficial, there needs to be a checks and balances system to ensure student descendants have access to the funds set aside for them.

Goodwin also adds that it is vital to have full transparency and documentation of the students who get these scholarships.
