Join pianist, music director, and Steinway Artist Ric’key Pageot performing and discussing his new educational initiative and documentary project “Classic Black” celebrating Black excellence in Classical music showcasing historically significant symphonic composers of African descent spanning the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.
Montreal-born pianist, accordionist, producer, composer, music director and Steinway Artist Ric’key Pageot will perform and discuss his documentary project “Classic Black” about the often-forgotten Black symphonic composers spanning the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Since 2008, Ric’key has toured with Madonna, Christina Aguilera, Cher and Diana Ross. When he is not touring around the world, Pageot is leading his band Parlor Social with his wife Dessy Di Lauro. Together they have designed a new and unique genre of original music they call Speakeasy-soul/Prohibition Funk, which seamlessly blends the styles of 1920-30’s Harlem renaissance jazz with today’s contemporary urban sounds.
