REALTORs® Know Best
REALTORs® are the experts we trust when buying a new home and they know just about everything there is to know about local neighborhoods and communities. It’s their job. Helping local businesses, associations, and nonprofits find and get settled into the perfect home for their operations is ours. That’s why it came as no surprise to the Department of Economic Development when the Realtor Association of Prince William (PWAR) decided to relocate their association offices to 9720 Capital Court in the City of Manassas.
Commonly referred to as “the Chamber Building” because it’s been the long-time home to the Prince William Chamber of Commerce, the four-story Class A office building is one of the original anchors in the City’s Gateway development. PWAR has purchased three adjacent suites in the building with a combined footprint of more than 7,000 sq. ft. of space, so they become the largest tenant; the building may need a new nickname!
Ideally located next to the Parkway, Manassas Regional Airport, major area employers, and close to the City’s Historic Downtown, the new offices are centrally located for all of PWAR’s activities and their 2,000 Realtor members.
The REALTOR® Association of Prince William (PWAR) is a professional trade association. Its membership consists of approximately 2,000 REALTORS® and industry affiliates. Their mission is to enhance members’ ability to achieve business success in an ethical and professional manner, advocate for private property rights, be the “Voice of the Real Estate” in the region and adhere to the NAR Core Standards. Their members are actively engaged in the Association and their community.
Please welcome PWAR to Manassas. Their seal of approval is an honor and a testament to the desirability of Manassas as a premier business location.
Parks, Culture and Recreation
The City of Manassas Parks, Culture and Recreation plans programs and events promoting the City’s rich cultural resources. The Department’s responsibilities include ongoing enhancements and activities for the whole family at the City’s parks, trails, pool, Harris Pavilion, and seven historical sites.
The latest focus includes the complete interior and exterior renovation of the Manassas Museum, reopened in July. Now visitors experience a welcoming patio with tables and chairs, updated landscaping, inside exhibits including a Manassas Timeline – and coming in November 2023 – the opening of brand-new galleries showcasing more of Manassas’s history. The Museum also invites visitors to programs for adults and children; some include book talks, front porch talks at historic properties, basement-to-attic tours, and more.
Another development is the Department’s new African American History Trail, which includes six historical markers throughout the City: The Enslaved of Liberia, First Baptist Church, African American Entrepreneurs, The Brown School, Answering the Call to Service, and Rose Hill Cemetery. This self-guided tour includes six important stories from the 1860s to the present of African Americans who contributed to the making of Manassas; more markers are planned for future locations. (NOTE: There are several historical markers throughout the City of Manassas. The color purple distinguishes the markers that highlight the heritage of local African Americans.)
Visit Manassas and be inspired by the men and women who built this City. Today, we can all freely enjoy its parks and historic properties that make Manassas home to many, and a destination for others.
