Anna London is the new CEO of Charlotte Works.

Charlotte Works board of directors has appointed Anna London as the president and chief executive officer effective immediately.  

London, a native of Charlotte, has spent nine years with the job preparation nonprofit, including the last five years as chief operating officer. During that time, she has secured over $4 million in funding that has impacted more than 150,000 individuals and contributed over $1.5 billion in participant earnings.

In 2020, London brokered a partnership with Mecklenburg County to launch the MeckWorks program, designed to provide comprehensive support to more than 200 job seekers with targeted employers.

• Karen Jenkins has been appointed chair of the Columbia, South Carolina, Chamber of Commerce board of directors.

Jenkins, who officially took over the new role at the Columbia Chamber’s 120th Diamond Gala on Oct. 5, is the first Black woman to hold the position.  

Jenkins, president and CEO of KRJ Consulting, is a longtime member of the Columbia Chamber and its board of directors, where she helped launch the Midlands Minority Business Accelerator program. Jenkins also chairs the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce Small Business Committee and is a member of the Women Presidents’ Organization, Vistage.


KRJ Consulting is based in Columbia and has 23 employees and six consultants across multiple states, including the Carolinas, Texas and Washington, D.C. The company has a presence in Charlotte.  

• The African American Caucus of the Mecklenburg County Democratic Party elected Braxton Becoats, S.Y. Mason-Watson and Joshua Twitty to its executive board for 2024-26.

Becoats was elected president, Mason-Watson first vice president and Twitty second vice president. The executive committee will take office on Jan. 1, 2024.

The caucus educates the Black community on political and community issues and promote candidates and initiatives of the county Democratic Party.
