A government foundation to compensate victims of the Martial Law era in its latest round has voted to dispense reparations totaling more than NT$100 million (US$3.17 million) in 112 individual cases, it said on Monday.
The Restoration of Victims’ Rights Infringed by Illegal Acts of the State During the Period of Authoritarian Rule Foundation on Friday last week convened a meeting to discuss applications for state compensation, it said.
The foundation had in total received 1,773 applications and approved 1,079 as of the end of October, it said, adding that considering the 633 still under review, the approval rate exceeds 60 percent.

In its latest meeting, foundation directors and supervisors approved 84 claims, 27 requests to retain reparations and one request to return seized property, it said.
Of the 204 total applications to return property, four have been passed and 56 dismissed, it said.
