Over 30 Black owned retail businesses sign up to participate in Black History Month @ Broadway Market

To date, upwards of 35 Black owned retail businesses have signed up to participate in the 2024 Black History Month at the historic Broadway Market. This year’s response has been phenomenal, and will go a long way towards creating a significant buzz at the market. The pop-up series is scheduled to take place every Saturday in February, starting February 3. The weekly event will be held from 8am to 5pm.

Mayor Brown said, “As we celebrate Black History Month, let us honor the legacy of resilience and entrepreneurship within our community by supporting black-owned businesses at The Broadway Market. Their success is our success, and by uplifting these businesses, we enrich the entire fabric of our city.”

This year, visitors to The Broadway Market, on Saturdays throughout February, will not only come across the vendors in residence that call the market home, they will also find plenty of items from pop-up vendors including fresh flowers and bouquets, sweet potato tarts, all natural skin products, soul food, clothing, jewelry, coffee, and mead.

On top of that, the City of Buffalo and the Broadway Market are teaming up with the Buffalo Bills Foundation. Shoppers will receive a $25 gift certificate every time they make a $10 purchase with a participating retail vendor at the market (on Saturdays in February). The certificates will be good through Saturday, February 24, the final Saturday of the month. Visit www.broadwaymarket.org for details.

Throughout the month of February at the Broadway Market, shoppers will also be treated to live music on Saturdays, featuring some of Buffalo’s best African American musicians and a number of other festive activities. The live music is as follows:

February 3 • Unity Band

February 10 • Buffalo’s Own Foxy Brown and the Blues Boys
