Oakland nonprofit OAACC gives out $63K in microgrants to support Black-owned businesses

The Oakland African American Chamber of Commerce (OAACC) has awarded $63,000 in microgrants to 63 member businesses, the nonprofit organization announced.

Each member business will be receiving $1,000 to support growth and sustainability, a press release issued Sunday said.

The grants, sponsored by Supervisor Nate Miley, Amazon and the Tides Foundation, aim to help Black-owned businesses improve their businesses, grow or address urgent needs, the NGO noted.

“Our members are essential to Oakland’s economic and cultural fabric,” said Cathy Adams, President of the OAACC. “These grants are a testament to our dedication to fostering business growth and sustainability within our community.”
