Nuvance Health Inc. failed to bring an early end to claims that it fired a Black Nigerian medical resident because of his race, national origin, and gender.
A reasonable juror could find that Uchechukwu Egbujo’s supervisor at Norwalk Hospital, which is owned and operated by Nuvance, made remarks showing a “discriminatory animus,” Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer of the US District Court for the District of Connecticut said. And the supervisor’s remarks were “sufficiently proximate in time to make it probative of discrimination,” the court said.
