Nordstrom is Using its Platform (Again) to Highlight Black Businesses for Black Business Month

With August being Black Business Moth, Nordstrom is using its platform to highlight Black businesses across the nation. The luxury retailer recently hosted a conversation with Black entrepreneurs, including: Harlem’s Fashion Row, The Folklore Group, Christina Funke Tegbe of 54 Thrones and Moya Annece & Ashley Cimone, Co-Founders of ASHYA.

In 2022, Nordstrom started their Black Business Month program that featured #BuyBlack pop-up markets. The goal was to highlight a special curation of local Black businesses, along with spotlighting the Black-owned or founded brands that are carried in the store’s year-round offering. The positive response and strong support from customers successfully drove $14 million in sales of Black-owned or founded brands at Nordstrom in August 2022 alone.

The 2023 #BuyBlack pop-up markets are being expanded to 13 Nordstrom stores. The Fifteen Percent Pledge curating invited local businesses to pop up in 11 cities throughout the month including New York, Atlanta, Charlotte, Durham, Houston, Washington DC, Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle and Miami.

Below is a breakdown of cities and dates you can show up to and support these Black-owned businesses.

8/11—8/13 NYC Flagship, Men’s Store NYC, Michigan Ave, Merrick Park, Downtown Seattle. 8/18—8/20 Tyson’s Corner, SouthPark, The Streets at Southpoint. 8/25—8/27 Houston Galleria, The Grove, North Park Center, Phipps Plaza, Perimeter Mall.
