Kendria Kelly-Taylor, PhD, is a Postdoctoral Research fellow at the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Division of Research within the Women’s and Children’s Health Section. Dr. Kelly-Taylor completed her PhD in Epidemiology and Population Health at the University of Louisville, her master’s degree in Public Health Science at Meharry Medical College, and her bachelor’s degree in Movement and Sports Science at Purdue University.
Kendria’s research interest primarily addresses social and structural determinants that facilitate perinatal, sexual, and reproductive health inequities among Black populations. She is particularly interested in capturing the intersectional experiences of Black mothers and how these experiences impact the health and well-being of their progeny. Her prior research concentrated on exploring the role of nativity and the differential experiences of perceived racial discrimination and their association to preterm birth and small-for gestational age infants among US-born and non-US born Black mothers. Her current research interest expands on this topic to explore racial and ethnic disparities in prenatal depression, antidepressant utilization, and its association to neurodevelopmental outcomes in children. Furthermore, her interest expands to understand the complex relations between stress during the life course and pregnancy and their underlying biological pathways.
