MSNBC’s Joy Reid accused President-elect Donald Trump of wanting to enact “reparations” for white people after Trump vowed to fight DEI policies in schools.
In a short video posted to TikTok, Reid shared a video of Trump calling DEI — Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion — policies “anti-American insanity.” He also laid out a plan to tax schools engaging in “racial discrimination.” Some of that money would be used to pay “victims” of these policies, according to Trump.
“Y’all, listen to this,” Reid told her followers.
Trump said:
“Furthermore, I will direct the Department of Justice to pursue federal civil rights cases against schools that continue to engage in racial discrimination and schools that persist in explicit unlawful discrimination under the guise of equity will not only have their endowments taxed, but through budget reconciliation, I will advance a measure to have them fined up to the entire amount of their endowment. A portion of the seized funds will then be used as restitution for victims of these illegal and unjust policies, policies that hurt our country so badly.”
“So, in other words, reparations for white people. Any comments on that?” Reid said.
In her post, she accused Trump of wanting to “enact reparations.”

Reid has previously lashed out at Latino men and white women voters over the loss of Vice President Kamala Harris. She’s also predicted Trump may deport people in the country legally.
After Trump announced Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Pete Hegseth, also an Army veteran, as his pick for Secretary of Defense, Reid took to the MSNBC airwaves, which have been losing viewers in the wake of Trump’s win, to describe Trump’s growing cabinet as a “clown car.”
“The future president is moving quickly to fill the clown car and round out his cabinet before he changes his mind and fires them all,” she said with a laugh on Tuesday.
