I’m an architecture editor. Moving ‘Forever Marilyn’ also helps enhance Modernism Week.

Peter Moruzzi’s opinion piece in Sunday’s paper about moving “Forever Marilyn” is spot on! I would add that Modernism Week has become one of the economic drivers of the Palm Springs economy, and anything the city can do to preserve and enhance that special legacy will benefit everyone, including hotels, restaurants and shops. The two other locations Mr. Moruzzi suggests for Marilyn will not diminish her at all and will alleviate the legal, safety and aesthetic issues surrounding the current placement. His compromise solution is a win-win for Palm Springs!

To me, Section 14 questions remain unanswered

Thank you, Desert Sun, for raising the threshold question on Section 14 reparations in your Sunday article, “After signs of hope, settlement talks stall over Palm Springs’ Section 14.” Were residents “given little or no notice before their homes were burned,” or were they “given adequate notice” before being evicted in accordance with lease terms and legal requirements? Until that question is answered, it would seem premature to discuss reparations. What do the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians and City of Palm Springs records show? Shouldn’t be that difficult for the City Council to have the research done.

Brave for Cohen to address antisemitism on college campus

In my opinion, Lily Cohen wrote an outstanding article, “I’m a Jewish student. I’m still waiting on allies to stand up for me” on antisemitism on her campus at Northwestern University, albeit a very sad and scary one. Cohen could have hypothetically been my granddaughter or your child, and she was expressing all that the beautiful Jewish students on campus are now experiencing. I am so proud of her for her activism, her intelligence and her ability to speak for so many. May she live a long and beautiful life full of hope, love and freedom to be who she is.

Thanks, Lily. (My mother’s name)
