Health aide accused of giving dementia patient a black eye

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – A man is in jail, charged with battery on an endangered adult.

Evansville Police say they were called to a nursing home on Kratzville Road earlier this month.

They got a report that 47-year-old Joshua Chun, a licensed health aide, hit an 82-year-old dementia patient in the face.

Officials say the man had a black eye and a cut that bled down his face.

They say another employee walked in to hear the patient yelling at Chun.

Officers were told Chun admitted to hitting the man and tried to convince the other employee not to report it.

Police say they were told Chun was a good employee who the patients love.

When they tried to interview the victim, police say he didn’t remember what happened.

Officers say Chun was fired from the nursing home.

After investigating, Chun was arrested Thursday and booked into jail.
