Fairmont Police search for suspect wanted in stabbing

FAIRMONT — A search is underway for a man who is wanted for a stabbing that occurred Monday night in the parking lot of the Fairmont Bowling Center.

Fairmont Police Chief Steve Shine has enlisted the aid of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in the search for 39-year-old Richard Allen Moore II who fled the scene on foot after the physical brawl that led to the stabbing. Shine said a warrant for malicious wounding has been issued for Moore’s arrest.

“Statements were taken from witnesses that indicated a man came into the bowling alley and started a verbal argument with the victim. This male would later be identified as the suspect of the stabbing, 39-year-old Richard Allen Moore II,” Shine stated in a press release.

While the name of the victim has not been released, he is 29 years old and is now in stable condition at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. The victim appeared to have been stabbed once on the right side of his chest, “just below his right pectoral.”

Shine said FPD detectives are evaluating evidence from the scene as the investigation continues.
