GREENSBORO, NC (November 2, 2023) – After a nationwide search, Eric Eley has been named the City of Greensboro’s Senior M/WBE Program Manager, effective November 1.
The position will report to the City Manager’s Office and create, build and promote economic inclusion and new opportunities for Minority and Women Business Enterprises throughout the area. Eley will also work closely with the Office of Economic Development in achieving one of the City Council’s key priorities of being the “easiest place to do business.” He will also be responsible for overseeing the development and compliance of the City Council adopted Greensboro Minority and Women Business Enterprise Policy and implementing the City’s M/WBE Program Plan.
“Our team will be focused on leveraging existing partnerships and bringing new perspectives to the table to elevate business inclusion, in order to exponentially increase M/WBE participation on City contracts,” said Eley.
Eley comes to the City from Johnson Controls LLP a global technology company headquartered in Milwaukee, WI, where he most recently served as the Customer Success Manager, supporting existing and new digital solutions customers and business operations from eastern Canada to Florida. Prior to Johnson Controls, he was the principle in his own company Business Answers LLC, a strategic business services firm focused on marketing and operations projects. Eley also held marketing and sales leadership positions with Colliers Turley Martin Tucker (Cushman Wakefield), Indianapolis Zoological Society, and United Technologies-Carrier Corporation, all in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Eley is an active member of the Greensboro community. He represented Johnson Controls on several Greensboro Chamber committees, Member with the United Way African American Leadership. Additionally he serves on the Greensboro Symphony and Foundation Boards as well as the Virginia Tech National Alumni Board.
Originally from Norfolk, Virginia, Eley earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Virginia Tech and later obtained an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.
