Doctor in the house: Wellness event aims to make Black families healthier, stronger

Black families concerned about their health and wellness can learn more at a weekend service event in Augusta.

The 2025 Black Family Wellness Expo will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 15 at the Henry Brigham Community Center, 2463 Golden Camp Rd., Augusta.

Visitors can find an array of free health services such as kidney screenings, cancer screenings, dental care, blood pressure checks, diabetes education, registration to become an organ donor, Alzheimer’s support and preventive care.

Other free services at the event include professional advice on avoiding and preventing teen violence, sexual assault and human trafficking.

There also will be a farmers’ market, and experts on-hand to explain the advantages of academic tutoring; life, dental and medical insurance; and the pursuit of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics education.

The event also will include a DJ, food trucks, line dancing, prizes and giveaways.

The event is sponsored by the Augusta chapter of The Links Inc., a volunteer service organization dedicated to fostering Black cultural and economic survival.
