In celebration of National Black Business Month this August, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) is spotlighting the achievements and contributions of Black businesses and entrepreneurs throughout the state. The initiative, led by the Office of Minority Economic Empowerment (OMEE), features a diverse lineup of virtual and in-person events designed to provide valuable resources and support to Black-owned enterprises.
Throughout the month, DCEO aims to foster economic growth and empowerment by hosting a series of informative sessions and discussions. The “Online with OMEE” event on August 7 from 10-11 AM will offer updates on federal and financial resources available to minority-owned businesses and answer participants’ questions in both English and Spanish. On August 15, from 10-11:30 AM, the “Capability Statement Webinar” will delve into the essentials of creating effective capability statements and highlight Illinois’ technical assistance resources, including the Apex Accelerator and consulting groups.
Additionally, the “Empowering Excellence: Proudly Celebrating National Black Business Month in Illinois” panel on August 21 from 12-1:30 PM will feature success stories and insights from prominent Black business leaders, providing inspiration and guidance for current and aspiring entrepreneurs.
