NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A dad has been charged with attempted criminal homicide of his own daughter outside a home in Nashville.
On Monday, an arrest record says 81-year-old Allen Seay repeatedly stabbed his daughter after a verbal argument outside a home in South Nashville.
When officers arrived, an arrest warrant says they found the victim with stab wounds to her chest, lower neck and cheek. She was transported to Vanderbilt Hospital where she was stabilized with serious injuries.
Officers detained Seay upon arrival until investigators arrived at the residence. Multiple witnesses on the scene spoke with investigators and provided video of the stabbing.
The video shows the two had a verbal argument that escalated into a physical fight when Seay grabbed his daughter’s head and pulled her to the ground, an arrest record shows.
Seay first hit her in the face with his hands multiple times before going into the home and retrieving a kitchen knife, police say. At this point, he began to stab his daughter repeatedly.
An arrest warrant states he then got up, walked away and handed the knife to a neighbor saying “I tried to kill her, but I couldn’t.” Officers retrieved the knife when they arrived.
Seay told investigators that he had intentionally grabbed the weapon, but did not know why he grabbed it. He added that the fight escalated because of “everything that had been building up” and given the chance to do it again, he would.
Officers responded to the Nashville home around 1:30 p.m. for the domestic disturbance.
Floyd Seay has been charged with attempted criminal homicide. His bond is set at $500,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
