Recent armed robberies in Chicago’s 14th, 16th, and 17th Districts have prompted heightened vigilance among local businesses, with liquor stores being the primary targets. The Chicago Police Department reports that the offenders follow a routine: entering premises, exhibiting black handguns with extended magazines, coercing victims to the floor, and then executing the robbery.
The robberies happened between October 6 and October 14, with several incidents happening swiftly. The robberies occurred at various locations spread across the mentioned districts, including on West Montrose Ave, North Kedzie Ave, West Division St, and West North Ave, among others.
According the Chicago Police Department, the culprits are thought to be two to three African American males, aged 20-25, dressed in black ski masks, black sweatpants, black hoodies, and white gloves. They measure between 5’3″-6’2″ in height, weigh between 160-180 pounds, have slim builds, and are said to be carrying handguns. Post-robbery, they are seen fleeing on foot, escaping in a dark-colored Alpha Romeo with tinted windows.
The Chicago Police Department urges businesses to use vigilance, maintaining functional surveillance cameras, and swift crime reporting by dialing 911 and supplying a detailed offender description.
