A Cheyenne sex offender has died in prison, the Wyoming Department of Corrections announced Monday.
According to a press release, Leopoldo Montoya died Sunday, July 23, at the Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution in Torrington. He was 65.
Per department policy, an autopsy will be conducted to determine Montoya’s cause of death.
According to the state’s sex offender registry, Montoya was convicted of first-degree sexual assault with intrusion on June 17, 2002.
