Chattanooga police arrest 81-year-old man accused of holding prostitute against her will

An 81-year-old man was arrested Tuesday morning after Chattanooga police say he held a prostitute against her will in a home in the Glenwood area.

It happened shortly before 11:00am at 210 Glenwood Circle.

Police responded to the home following a report from a female caller who said 81-year-old Ithornial Maffett wouldn’t let her leave.

The arrest reports states, the woman said Maffett picked her up Monday night outside of a liquor store on E. 23rd Street with the intention to pay her for sex.

When the two got back to his house, the report says the woman told police she and Maffett tried to have sex but he was unable to perform.

The woman called 911 when Maffett refused to let her leave because he wanted his money back.

Maffett was arrested on charges of patronizing prostitution and false imprisonment.

Maffett was booked at the Hamilton County Jail and Detention Center. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 5.

Police gave the woman involved a misdemeanor citation for prostitution.
