{KXLG – Browns Valley, MN} The Traverse County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide after a 17-year-old male was found fatally stabbed early Friday morning.
Authorities responded to a call around 2:18 a.m. on August 16th of an unresponsive individual at the Valley View Apartments in Browns Valley. Upon arrival, emergency personnel discovered the victim, identified as Andre L. Kampeska, with a fatal stab wound to the chest. Despite lifesaving efforts, Kampeska was pronounced dead at Coteau Des Prairies Hospital at 3:07 a.m.
A juvenile male suspect has been apprehended and is currently in custody at the West Central Regional Detention Center in Moorhead, Minnesota. The suspect faces preliminary charges of two counts of Second-Degree Murder and one count of First-Degree Manslaughter.
The Traverse County Sheriff’s Office is collaborating with multiple agencies, including the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Big Stone County Sheriff’s Office, Stevens County Sheriff’s Office, Roberts County Sheriff’s Office, Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Police Department, and Sisseton Police Department, in this ongoing investigation.
