Black Maternal Health Fair slated for April 13

CARBONDALE, Ill. — Local nonprofit organization The Little Resource Center will partner with several organizations to hold the 2024 Southern Illinois Black Maternal Health Fair from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Carbondale. The event is free and the public is invited to attend.

A flyer for the event said featured speakers will include Chastity Mays with “What is a Doula?”; Marcella Woodson with “Black Maternal Mortality and How Yoga Can Help”; Ashla Estrada with “Ancestral Healing”; and Isis Rose with “Beyond Breastfeeding Basics: The Impact of Homebirth on Lactation Hormones.”

The event will also include food and giveaways, family-friendly programs and information tables and local family and support resources.
