Black Health Matters hosts health summit in DC

The event aims to bring people together and create a safe space to discuss health conditions with experts.

WASHINGTON — The Black Health Summit, hosted by nonprofit health advocacy organization Black Health Matters, held a free event for the D.C. community on Saturday.

The health summit, held at the Kellogg Conference Hotel in Northeast, aimed to bring numerous medical experts across multiple fields together under one roof and provide needed resources to Washingtonians. The organizers of the summit also sought to raise awareness about the importance of health consultations and community.

The event offered panels covering a wide range of topics. From donor kidney transplants, to the importance of mental health, the Black Health Summit provided private conversations to draw attention to unspoken health topics and push stigma aside.

WUSA9 spoke with Roslyn Young-Daniels, founder and CEO of Black Health Matters,  who affirmed “[the Black Health Summits] are about uplifting our community, empowering our community through knowledge so that we can have better outcomes.”
