African American-owned Lexington construction company opens new building

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Elaine Allen, a Lexington construction company, held a grand opening of its new 5,000-square-foot building on Winchester Road.

This African American-owned business has a lot to celebrate.

They also won the $4 million bid to work on a huge project in the city: the Town Branch Park.

Elaine Allen is in charge of building a big part of the park: the amphitheater.

In the video above, WKYT spoke with the owner of the construction company, Bishop E. Carter IV, about the challenges of minority contractors winning these types of construction bids.
