MIDLAND, Mich. (WJRT) – Police arrested a 28-year-old man in Midland who is accused of shooting and killing another man inside a residence Thursday morning.
The Midland Police Department says two women ages 21 and 51 called 911 around 6:55 a.m. to report a domestic assault at a residence in the 1400 block of Jay Street.
The women left the residence before police arrived, but a 33-year-old male family member remained there with the 28-year-old suspect. Midland police officers tried to talk with the men when the arrived, but nobody answered the door.
While officers were attempting to make contact with the men, a nearby resident called 911 to report a suspicious man in the backyard. The description matched the 28-year-old suspect, so some officers headed that way.
They arrested the suspect without incident. in the area of Waldo Avenue and Lambros Drive.
Meanwhile, officers who remained at the Jay Street residence entered the home and found the 33-year-old victim dead from gunshot wounds. Police did not identify the victim on Thursday morning.
Police brought the suspect to the Midland Law Enforcement Center for questioning before transferring him to the Midland County Jail, where he remained in custody while awaiting arraignment on criminal charges.
Investigators did not identify the suspect Thursday morning because he had not been arraigned.
