The upcoming presidential election is predicted to be a tight race in which the outcome will likely be determined by several thousand votes across a handful of states. In many of those battleground states African American voters will be a key voting bloc whose level of turnout could determine which presidential candidate prevails. African American voters may also be the target of voter suppression efforts that could dilute their voting strength.
On October 31, join the Race, Prosperity, and Inclusion Initiative at Brookings for a webinar which will explore the pivotal role of Black voters in the 2024 presidential election. Panelists will examine African American voting patterns, voter suppression efforts, and how the spread of misinformation through social media might influence the voter participation and the partisan choices of Black voters. Panelist will also explore what challenges and opportunities the history-making nomination of a woman of color as the standard-bearer of the Democratic Party is having on the Black electorate and the inroads the Republican Party is making among Black voters.
