Black Professionals of Iowa discuss empowerment tips with entrepreneurs in eastern Iowa

The Empowerment Symposium is happening in Iowa City.

It’s being held by the Black Professionals of Iowa and Mogul Consulting. Organizers there said the goal is to help inspire black and brown entrepreneurs in eastern Iowa.

Anyone that attends can also become certified targeted small businesses by the Iowa Economic Development Authority.

Tasha Lard, Executive Director for Black Professionals of Iowa, said this helps give them valuable resources and recognition.

“I hope that it gives people a different perspective and want to look at things differently in eastern Iowa and understand that we in all communities, especially eastern Iowa, need to have access to those resources as well and to make the state a better place by providing that,” said Lard.

If you weren’t able to make it Thursday, the symposium will run again on Friday, Sept. 20, at the Graduate Hotel in downtown Iowa City. Some of the topics that are being discussed include:

  • Branding
  • Economic development
  • Education
  • Leadership
  • Marketing
  • Workforce
