A new bakery has opened in downtown Irondale. Owned by the husband and wife team Sunshine Dang and Ronald Williamson, Sunshine’s Bakery specializes in pastries, breads and cookies.

The shop, which has a view of the Irondale’s iconic railroad tracks, is an ideal place to either pick up a breakfast or hang out with neighbors.

In April of this year, Miracle Pizza Co. took over the former Post Office Pies location in the Avondale Business District.

Head chef Ben McPherson uses fresh ingredients like Italian flour, San Marzano tomatoes, NY-style Grande cheese and locally-sourced meats to create pizzas that will have your mouth watering.

A new Mexican wrestling-themed taqueria has entered the ring!

Check out Springville’s hottest new spot, Ay Güey Taqueria & Bar. Owned by Arturo and Diana Flores, the husband and wife duo wanted to create a restaurant where its primarily American audience could experience authentic Mexican food like carne asada, chorizo and al pastor tacos.

A locally-owned boutique, The Pink Tulip, is opening a new location at The Grove in Hoover.

Founded in 1986 by Letty Algren, The Pink Tulip sells carefully hand-selected clothing with an emphasis on fabrication, fit and affordability. The new 2,000 sq. ft. location expects to open this October.

Look who’s coming to The Summit!

The Birmingham shopping center’s newest tenant, American Eagle, is preparing to open next to its sister store Aerie.

6. Eighteen South | The Edge

Eighteen South, a popular boutique retailer co-owned by husband and wife duo Patrick & Lacy Isbell, is preparing to open its second location in the new The Edge development on Green Springs Highway. 

Eighteen South features gameday attire and its sought-after Spirit collection which includes trendy brands like Mizzen&Main and LinkSoul.

7. The Humidor Room | Downtown Bham

The Humidor Room on Highway 280 near Lee Branch is preparing to make its move to downtown Birmingham.

The cigar lounge will be moving out of its current location when the lease ends this Spring. According to the Birmingham Business Journal, Humidor Room Owner Saeid Morshedi confirmed he purchased a downtown property earlier this year.

Home design lovers will be saddened to learn that Birmingham’s own Richard Tubb has announced his retirement and the closure of the long-standing Richard Tubb Interiors storefront in Pepper Place in December.

After over 50 years in the interior decorating business, Richard made a significant mark on the Birmingham community.
