ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis CITY Block Party on June 22 will spotlight local Black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs in honor of Juneteenth.
The pregame celebration will take place from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., during which visitors can shop from a variety of vendors, including crafters, writers, health and fitness enthusiasts, and more.
There will also be live entertainment from Stazi, James Lion, and Aida Ade, as well as local food and drinks, including offerings from local Black-owned CITY Flavor food partner Steve’s Hot Dogs.
The featured Black-owned businesses include:
- Author Michael Anderson: A St. Louis-based writer and blogger, Michael Anderson is known for his best-selling Zoey Lyndon children’s book series, which inspires young girls to pursue careers in STEM fields.
- Creators Corner: Located in Florissant, Creators Corner specializes in high-quality yarn, craft supplies, and handmade crochet products.
- Qavah Spaces: This business offers a sanctuary for individuals to recharge and reconnect, featuring the “Reflections” notebook for jotting down thoughts and aspirations.
- Ope Outdoors: Ope Outdoors produces eco-friendly clothing and organizes group hikes in Midwestern parks to foster a community of outdoor enthusiasts.
- STL Run Crew: Dedicated to promoting diversity and community, the STL Run Crew provides opportunities for people to engage in physical activity and social connection.
“It is our club’s goal to be ‘more than soccer’ and to make a positive impact in our community – to inspire, empower, and be a catalyst for change,” said Kristin Mosley, St. Louis CITY SC’s Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. “We are looking forward to welcoming these business owners to our plaza and continuing our mission to support Black dreams.”
Those without a ticket to the match can stay for the free Watch Party on the plaza to see CITY SC take on Atlanta starting at 7:30 p.m.
