Ann Arbor council votes unanimously to explore reparations for Black residents

ANN ARBOR, MI — Ann Arbor is considering establishing a city reparations program to address historical injustices and discrimination against Black residents.

Such programs can include direct financial restitution, policy reforms, community investments and public acknowledgments, City Council members said in a resolution, noting Black residents in Ann Arbor may be descendants of enslaved people.
