{KXLG – Roberts County, SD} Roberts County law enforcement responded to reports of a vehicle crash on County Rd 19, also known as Mud Lake Rd, near the intersection with Co Rd 7, or Lake Rd. Upon arrival, officers found an individual, later identified as Joyce F. White, in a state of extreme intoxication behind the wheel of the crashed vehicle.
Despite her refusal to exit the vehicle, additional units arrived, and officers were able to assess White’s condition. It was determined that her intoxication level was so severe that she could not perform field sobriety tests or walk unaided. Officers also discovered marijuana on her clothing, inside the vehicle, and open alcoholic containers.
After receiving medical clearance, White was taken into custody. Notably, this arrest follows a previous DUI incident in May 2024, where White was also found to have crashed her vehicle into a ditch. An active warrant for her arrest had been issued in Roberts County related to that earlier DUI charge.
The local authorities have expressed gratitude to the public for reporting such concerning behavior and have issued a reminder about the ongoing extra DUI patrols. They warn that those who choose to drive under the influence can expect to encounter law enforcement.
The Traverse County Sheriff’s Office’s assistance in this matter has been acknowledged.
