Health inequities among Black women persist

The Blade: The Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative of Northern Ohio held the Black Maternal Health Equity Summit earlier this month to examine and consider solutions to address disparities in care for Black mothers. Linda Bradley, professor of surgery at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine and a summit attendee, urged women to be proactive about their own health, to bring a companion to doctor’s appointments, to ask questions, and to get in touch with a doula for both physical and emotional support during labor.
