African Americans are at higher risk for many illnesses, including heart disease, diabetes, cancer and stroke, according to research by the Office of Minority Health with the Department of Health and Human Services. In an effort to raise awareness for these increased health risks and ultimately reduce these disparities, the national service organization Links Incorporated, an American nonprofit led by Black women, will host this inaugural event at locations across the U.S.

FAMU Pharmacy students will provide resources such as blood pressure screenings, blood donation drives and more to members of the public. The event will also feature a mini-series where local health experts will discuss maternal health, teen mental health, men’s health issues, dementia and more.
