Black Men encouraged to take a time out for their health at March Sports and Styling Event

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – UnityPoint Health is partnering with local organizations to raise awareness about the importance of regular health screenings in Black men.

While bringing awareness to the importance of regular health screenings in Black men, this is also meant to empower Black men to take care of their well-being.

This event will be on March. 23 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Lincoln Center, 318 E. 7th Street, Davenport, Iowa.

According to officials, heart disease and cancer are among the top leading causes of death in Black men in the United States.

One of UnityPoint Health’s initiatives, Medicine in the Barbershop, has joined with local barbers in the community to give free haircuts during the event.
