(WEAA)—Baltimore City Council President Nick Mosby joins Dr. Kaye to discuss the latest happenings in Baltimore.
During the discussion, the two mainly focus on the redistricting process, with Mosby expressing his criticism towards the mayor’s initial proposal, which was implemented without any input from the community.
Mosby further elaborates on how the City Council made revisions to the proposal, only to have it vetoed by the mayor, resulting in the mayor’s original map becoming the law.
In an effort to address this issue, Mosby has introduced a charter amendment that aims to remove the mayor’s veto power on redistricting and increase community involvement.
The two also discuss the decrease in homicide rates and the rise in youth violence and carjackings.
Towards the end of the conversation, Mosby highlights the state’s plans to allocate recreational cannabis revenue to communities that have been affected by the war on drugs.
