OLEAN — Almost 100 nonprofits are banking on the community’s generosity as the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation prepares to kick off the seventh annual Cattaraugus Gives program.
Cattaraugus Gives, set for Giving Tuesday, is a 24-hour online fundraising event that brings together area nonprofits of any service area, size or mission in friendly competition to celebrate the community’s spirit of giving, organizers said. Giving will begin on the www.cattaraugusgives.org at midnight, continuing for 24 hours.
To date, the program has raised more than $1.03 million for area nonprofits. In 2022, 75 groups received $271,974 from 1,349 donors through the website, with the final tally of donations after the event coming to $275,447.
Donors can help the participating organizations win prizes from a pool of over $20,000 in prizes sponsored by CRCF and a number of area businesses. New this year, donors will have the chance to win themselves, as there will be six gift card drawings throughout the day for donors that give $100 or more during designated time periods. The full prize listing is available on the website. Additionally, a number of participating nonprofits will have matches and challenges available, which will increase the impact of donors’ gifts. The public is invited to make their gifts and watch the leaderboard throughout the day.
