Two weeks after a heated discussion regarding a generator maintenance Request for Proposal, Hammond City Council members last Tuesday night approved rewarding the contract to AARCO Company Services of Baton Rouge.
AARCO’s bid was deemed the lowest and most qualified based on a matrix used by city employees with knowledge of generators and their workings. But during the Sept. 12 meeting, discussion of the contract sparked cries of racism and potential bid fixing, resulting in a delay of the vote.
